One of the many things I have loved about flora photos is the endless cycles of new opportunities for discovery. Take these pictures. They are from my favorite neighborhood drought-tolerant sidewalk garden. I’ve posted images from this garden before, and find something new to appreciate in it every time I pass by. What these gardeners have done by design, nature does innately: create a system in which each plant has its season to shine. Which ultimately means that something is always blooming.
Several weeks ago, none of these plants were in flower. The time of other plants won’t come for many more weeks or months. But, especially here in San Francisco, how wonderful is it that something is always blooming, peaking, reaching the zenith of its loveliness on any given day of the year?
